Local documents. Clear choices.

Document processing on your device, with Google services for ads, purchases and scanning. Understand what stays local and what other services process.

01

Documents stay on your device

pdf HQ opens and processes PDFs and images locally. We do not operate a document-upload server or receive the contents of your files. The app keeps imported copies, generated documents, names, favorites, bookmarks, recent-file information and reading positions in its private storage. Files you choose through a cloud storage provider may be downloaded by that provider under its own policy.

02

Scanning and permissions

Document scanning uses Google ML Kit through Google Play services. Scanning and image enhancement take place on the device; scanner components may need an internet download before first use. The Google scanning interface manages camera access. The app uses Android’s file picker for selected files and folders, rather than requesting access to all storage. Optional notification permission shows background-operation progress. ML Kit may send device and app information, installation or device identifiers, configuration, performance metrics and error events to Google for diagnostics and usage analytics. This is distinct from uploading your document contents.

03

Advertising and consent

The free version uses Google AdMob and Google’s User Messaging Platform. Google’s advertising SDK may collect and share IP addresses (including approximate location inferred from them), advertising/app-set and other relevant device or account identifiers, ad/app interactions, and diagnostics. These support ad delivery, measurement and fraud prevention. Consent choices, region, device settings and Google’s services affect processing. The app provides Ad privacy options when Google requires that option; you can also manage advertising identifiers in Android settings. See Google’s privacy policy and advertising information linked below.

04

Purchases and restoring ad removal

Remove ads is a one-time, non-consumable purchase handled by Google Play. pdf HQ receives purchase status and a signed purchase record, including product and transaction identifiers and a purchase token. It stores the signed record locally to verify and remember ad removal, and queries Google Play to restore ownership. We do not receive your card details. Once verified, ad removal disables the app’s banners and interstitials; Google Play services may still communicate for purchases and restoration.

05

Passwords and background operations

Passwords supplied for document operations are used locally. Pending background requests are encrypted with a key stored in Android Keystore, and the app removes request files after success or terminal failure. Passwords are not sent to us. Document encryption is applied only when you choose the protection tool; ordinary imported PDFs are not automatically encrypted by pdf HQ.

06

Sharing, printing and other apps

Sharing, exporting, moving, printing and opening a DOCX in another app happen at your request. The selected recipient, storage provider, print service or compatible Office app then handles the content under its own terms. pdf HQ cannot delete copies you have exported or sent to another service.

07

Retention and deletion

Local documents and preferences remain until you delete them, clear app storage or uninstall the app. Backups through Android’s automatic app-backup system are disabled. Export important files before uninstalling. Clearing storage or uninstalling does not cancel a Google Play purchase: ownership can be restored using the purchasing account. Google independently retains purchase and advertising records under its policies; we cannot delete those records for you.

08

Security and your choices

The app uses Android’s private app storage and does not intentionally transmit document content to us. Google’s advertising SDK uses encrypted transport for its collected data. No storage or transmission method can be guaranteed completely secure. Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, object to or request deletion of personal information. Contact us about information you have sent us, and use Google’s controls for information Google processes.

09

Support and children

If you email support, we receive your email address and any information you include, and use it to respond and manage the request. Do not email sensitive documents or passwords. This is a general document utility and is not designed specifically for children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us so we can address it.
